Persephone's Favorite Fruit

The path of love is littered with rosewater perfume and crimson jewels.

Pomegranates. They are the food goddess of fruit. Persephone's seeds of the underworld. The fruit of things forbidden.
Winter's sweet reprieve from the dark and cold.

A gift long ago from the mountains of the Himalayas and far away exotic Persian lands. Made into a richly thick syrup or eaten as tiny glistening seeds.

They tease us with only a few weeks of delight and then leave behind their love on cherry-colored stained lips.

Enjoy them before they head back to the underworld......

Here is a luscious pomegranate recipe from the other food goddess, Nigella Lawson

Buon appetito!
